Answer Me

One day he will Answer Me

And no, I don’t mean the questions he skips.

How was the drive? Did it rain on the coast? What are you thinking about right now?

They are just trivial. Shallow in their depth. A way for me to hold on to him. A way for the silence between us to not be so loud.

They are ways to try to learn things about him that don’t really matter but make up the whole of him. Details that I want to find out to carry with me. These are details that keep me from asking other questions. Questions that can’t simply be put into words. Sometimes words are cheap anyway.

What I want is to find out the connection. Not about how we talk to each other with words on a screen but how we talk to each other with our bodies. How deep does that go? What happens when skin and heat meet? How far can we go? What do our souls know that we don’t yet?

It is not about answering questions. It is about desire answering desire. Hunger reaching out to feed the other. Not words. Words will be stripped away until there is nothing left but the raw truth of connection.
