For 4 years now, and even longer (maybe 30 years if you think about it), I have belonged. I still feel like I belong. I still feel that pull of being an extension of Daddy.
I am not prepared for any alternative.
But what does it mean when you have a break from belonging, whether it is temporary or permanent?
Who are you in those moments? Are you prepared for the moment when you realize the freedom of being theirs is gone? Are you going to be ok in the quiet space in your own skin?
Part of this is being able to be yourself. Be the person they fell in love with, even when you are theirs. Don’t put on a mask. Don’t lose yourself in them, even when it is so tempting to let them lead you into them.
This is one of the hardest things for us neurodivergent peeps. It is so tempting to create yourself into the person they want you to be, the person that they are. They don’t even have to ask; it is just normal to mask and mold yourself to others. It is easy to focus on that spot so your mind has something to anchor to, but when the anchor is gone, you become adrift, floating away into the abyss.
How do you start with the end in mind? Be prepared to keep yourself intact.
In this world, there’s just us (Harry Styles)
