The one who cares. The one with empathy and kindness. The one who wants to see the other person who is there behind the mask. No matter what that mask hides.
I love having friends who care when you throw yourself at their mercy. But to find someone who sees you and knows you and wants to reach out is unique. It is hard to let go of those connections. It is hard to be that person, too. To truly put yourself aside to see that others are hurting or going through things that you just don’t want to burden you with.
Sometimes a simple check-in can mean the world, but to have your person that is always there is something to cherish.
