“Three words. That is it. That is all I need. Just say it. Just let me know.”
She missed hearing them. There were other words, too, she liked, but these words offered something special. Something she needed to feel right inside her skin.
It hadn’t been said for a while, and she was getting used to that. That is what made it worse somehow. She didn’t want to get used to it.
She wanted to belong. And she did feel like she did, but only in those dark spaces at night when she was alone, reaching for something. Hearing his voice say it, even if it was just a recording or only in her head.
She just wished there were chances for him to say it to her face, whisper it in her ear, let her feel it on her body and deep inside it.
