“Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion is starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don’t see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it’s not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it’s always there – fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge – they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling love, actually … is all around.” Hugh Grant in Love Actually
I am still holding on to my dream, the one that begins at that airport gate. With the one who can’t wait to kiss me as soon as he sees me. I hear Heathrow is a good one for that, although I am not that picky (maybe just a little).
Was it too early to watch Love Actually? Each year, certain scenes hit me differently. Laura Linley’s tragic missied romance comes to mind today. Family taking priority.
My why, though, for living and dreaming, is that there is more to come. It is not too late for those dreams. We all evolve into something else until we don’t.
My why is that kiss. The one that will mean the world from someone who does it and means it.
