Sometimes saying no is so much harder than saying yes. I have been saying no a lot lately.
But I was talking to a friend a few weeks ago, warning others that I might say no a lot, but appreciate being asked.
He said something that stuck with me, and I will try not to botch up too badly when I paraphrase. He said, Saying No more means your Yes has more meaning.
One of the many things my mother messed up was telling us we always had to say yes, especially to men. I think that has been the hardest lesson to unlearn from her over the years.
We can say no, and we can accept no.
I love the idea of saying yes to certain people, and I can’t wait for them to ask the right question so I can.
But I will also do better at accepting others’ no, even when they do not use the words.
