Who I Wanted to Be

John: Who you thought I was was the man I wanted to be.
Mary: Well then, John Watson, get the hell on with it.

Do you ever look at yourself through someone else’s eyes? Do you ever think about who it is they see?

I am guilty of seeing people in the way I want them to be, so I wonder do others do that with me, too? I often try to predict not just how they see me, but how they want to see me. And like John Watson, I may like that person better. Maybe I want to be that person more than I want to be myself.

But it is not always about being different, but just experiencing different things.

There are multitudes within me, and they all want to be. They want their chance to express themselves. They want their chance to belong.

It is not always about trying to explore and find your one true self.
