My life in song lyrics and movie quotes

I speak in song lyrics and movie quotes a lot. Today, I was thinking about crazy, stupid love (not the movie, just the love).

It made me think about this quote from Jason Lee playing Brodie in Mallrats.

I’m tired of this whole thing! You’re both [stupid] for each other! Forget about the shit that happened and do what you’re supposed to! I think the audience would agree with me there.

There is a trope in romance stories where the characters are all in their head and not communicating. You hear their inner dialogue. You know they are stupid for each other and sometimes just stupid for not saying the truth. It can make you want to shake them, yell at them, and say you love each other, say something.

We sometimes need to get over ourselves and push past that fear and insecurity. We can hope that the other will be kind, put us out of our misery, and admit to being stupid for us too (or tell us directly they are not interested.) If you have feelings for someone just tell them. If you have something you are saying to them in your head, maybe say it out loud.

In that spirit, I want to say very plainly, Daddy, “in this world where nothing else is true, Here I am still tangled up in you.” (Tangled in You by Staind)

I love the man I call Daddy, and miss him when he is gone. I want nothing more than to be tangled together more than just physically.
