Ok that is a silly title but I had someone ask me what writers excite me, turn me on, or even inspire me to share your thoughts?
I decided to share my answer here:
Such a brilliant question, and I am feeling excited about answering it, and yet some pressure, too.
I have a degree in literature, among other things, and read a lot (a lot). Emma Holly was probably the first erotic contemporary author that I was introduced to, beyond things like Lady Chatterley’s Lover and the many historical Regency romance books I used to read all the time. I had a tendency to read things I could get through fast, and created an escape because I felt guilty not reading for classwork. So that became a habit.
I do not have a long list of pivotal erotic works. Just random stuff I consume, some are more trashy and good than others. If I remember correctly, in high school, I found a book that was a Harlequin that included a dungeon and a power exchange relationship. I had already watched 9 1/2 Weeks, so this connected with me, and I began seeking out more.
I eventually found Story of O and Sleeping Beauty. Huge fan of Ann Rice, and any type of Vampire book holds a lot of eroticism for me (I have devoured Southern Vampire Chronicles and am waiting for my Eric Northman to show up. I like the assholes). But Beauty is a different beast altogether. I tried rereading it a few years ago, and it did not fascinate me as it did when I read it in my 20s. Still good, though.
I can’t lie, I don’t hate 50 shades. Obviously not for its realism, but for the escape and recognizing the patterns we women have of wanting to change and mold our men. But also because it is interesting as fan fiction for Twilight.
The most recent love is Haunting Adeline. I love dark things, and this has a lot of dark themes in it. I would love to devour more like this.
Other random titles:
The Marketplace Laura Antoniou
The Siren – Tiffany Reiz (She has several good ones, and some are just fast fun reads, but she includes words and phrases that really show her understanding of kink relationships. Like little bombs throughout her work that hit the right spot, even if the book as a whole does not.
As You Wish Jane Lee
Tarsman of Gor – This is the first book in the Gorean Saga. There are many that have devoured these books and created a lifestyle based on them.
One thing that surprised me is the dinosaur porn from Kindle Unlimited. I actually got into that. Lots of shifter erotica on Kindle Unlimited.
These are just a few things about what I read. I love my book clubs over the years that have introduced me to a wealth of titles I may not have found myself.
